Next Sunday, we gather to celebrate Reformation Sunday with a special theme: Reform. Wear red!! As we conclude our generosity initiative, we focus on the dedication of Solomon’s Temple and Jesus cleansing the Temple, reminding us that our resources should always be dedicated to God’s work, not self-serving ends.
Reformation is more than a historical event; it’s about renewing our church and our faith practices today. As we reflect on Solomon’s dedication of the Temple, we are reminded that we, too, are called to dedicate our resources to the mission of God. In the same way, Jesus’ cleansing of the Temple calls us to align our lives, including our financial lives, with God’s purposes.
To bring the Reformation to life, Pastor Katie and I have something extra special planned for the service! We’ll be performing a skit that takes you behind the scenes of the Reformation through the eyes of Katie Luther and her friend. Katie had her own important role in the Reformation, running the household and engaging in deep theological conversations that shaped the movement. Our skit will be lighthearted, full of humor, and engaging for all ages. We promise you’ll walk away with a smile; and maybe a new appreciation for the "behind-the-scenes" work of the Reformation!
As part of our stewardship journey, this Sunday will also be a time to bring forward your pledge cards for 2025. Reformation comes from ongoing commitment to God’s mission, and your pledges are an important part of that.
We hope you’ll join us for this joyful and meaningful Sunday, as we reflect on what it means to dedicate ourselves and our resources to God’s work. Let’s celebrate Reformation not just as history, but as a living, breathing call to renew our lives and faith.
