"Still Expanding"

October 11, 2023

Pastor Cathy Daharsh

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

Here we are in the 100th year of ministry at Bethany Lutheran Church, and this place has been a blessing to our community and our world.  God has given us an abundance of good gifts and has encouraged us to share those gifts with others, which has made a difference in more lives than we can count.

As we come up to the 18th month of our Expand the Table Generosity Initiative, we are kicking off a five-sermon series called "Still Expanding", to celebrate all that God has done and continues to do in and through us.  Christ is with us, changing and transforming us to look outside of ourselves as we look to find room at our table for those missing -- especially the lost, the lonely, and the broken hearted.  Our table is made whole when there is room for all generations, races, genders, and sexual orientations.

In tandem with the sermon series, there will be four bible studies, which will meet for discussion in the library three times per week: Sundays at 10am, Wednesdays at 10am, and Wednesdays at 7pm.  The first bible study is on Sunday October 22.  You're encouraged to join any one of the three bible study sessions each week!

Here's a peek ahead!  The reading for Sunday the 22nd is Matthew 22:1-14, with a focus on verse 9: "Go therefore into the main streets and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet."
