The first rays of dawn break through the sky as a small group of women make their way through the quiet streets of Jerusalem. They’re headed to the tomb, hoping to feel close to the one they’ve lost. Their minds are tangled with grief and questions. One thing is certain: Jesus is gone. Dead.
But what they find when they arrive is nothing like they expected. The stone—once immovable—has rolled away. The tomb, once sealed, is empty. Silence fills the space where death once stood. Suddenly, two angels appear, standing in the doorway, and with calm authority, they say: “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here. He has risen!”
Can you feel it? The shock. The impossibility of it all. The spark of life breaking through. This wasn’t just a man who was dead. It wasn’t just a body in that tomb. It was everything that once held them in fear, everything that whispered, “this is the end.” In an instant, it’s all undone.
These women—broken, unsure, maybe even frightened—become the first preachers of the resurrection. They carry the message that will change the world: Go. Tell. And just like that, everything shifts.
Here’s the truth: This story is more than ancient history. This is a story of moving from death to life, from loss to resurrection. We all have lived in uncertainty, of walking through a world filled with pain. But the empty tomb reminds us: new beginnings are always possible. No matter the weight of the world, the tomb is empty. The chains have broken.
Resurrection isn’t just something that happened—it’s happening right now. It lives in us, leading us into new spaces, new opportunities, new futures. This journey, our migration into new life, is for us today.
The empty tomb tells us there is always more. Always hope. Always something greater waiting for us.
Whatever you carry this season—whether joy, doubt, hope, or fear—this community is for you. Easter is God’s call to us: Come. You are invited to something beautiful, bold, and full of promise.
Let’s make this Easter unforgettable. Together, we’ll step into the new life that awaits us. I can’t wait to see you on Sunday!
Peace,
Pastor Katie
