How do we faithfully engage Scripture when it comes to questions of LGBTQ+ inclusion? How can we better understand passages that have been used both to harm and to affirm LGBTQ+ people throughout history?

On Sunday, June 21, immediately following worship, Pastor Katie will lead a special post-worship class titled “Scripture, Harm, and Hope: An LGBTQ+ Faith Conversation.”

Building on the conversations begun earlier this year in Bethany’s Being RIC class, this gathering will provide a thoughtful and welcoming space to explore how Christians have interpreted key biblical texts related to LGBTQ+ people. Together, participants will examine Scripture in its historical and cultural context, consider different approaches to interpretation, and reflect on how these passages continue to shape conversations within the church today.

Whether you participated in the Being RIC class or are joining the conversation for the first time, this session is designed to help deepen understanding and encourage meaningful dialogue rooted in faith, compassion, and respect.

The class will begin immediately after worship and will last approximately 60–90 minutes.

All are welcome to attend as we continue growing together in our understanding of Scripture, dignity, belonging, and God's love for all people.

Date: Sunday, June 21
Time: Immediately following worship (approximately 60–90 minutes)
